School Residencies

I am a qualified teacher, registered with Sheffield Arts Education.

I specialise in writing and delivering Art & Design programmes through residencies in Primary and Secondary schools.  Programmes can be designed to respond directly to the A and D curriculum; to enhance a one-off topic or to add an innovative and creative bias to another area of the curriculum.

I will discuss your requirements and resources beforehand with your Arts co-ordinator and provide you with a detailed programme for your approval, confirming aims, objectives and outcomes, fully costed and timetabled.

Art forms may include drawing and painting in a wide range of media (everything you have) mural, relief, collage, montage, paper, creative crafts, and even elements of music and drama where these amplify a theme.  The only limits are the materials you have or can acquire.

Subjects can include Art History, Cartoon, Graphic Design, Drawing and Painting techniques, Perspective, Design Theory, Caricature, Architecture or perhaps a quick painting demonstration to show the children how an artist works.

Programmes explore a host of other skills and issues - observation and recording techniques, participation, motivation, logic, fun, self-esteem, leadership, compromise, self-expression, group etiquette; under the umbrella of Art & Design as a unifying influence which can help articulate the curriculum as a whole.

The cost is £150 per day which normally includes arranging presentations/displays after school and feedback/consolidation with staff.  Inset training can also be included as part of the normal service if you wish.
