Murals
I produced my first mural as a student of architecture in Huddersfield many years ago, on one wall of the design studio I shared with three other students. It included a stunning (though I say it myself) but tasteful portrait of a beautiful blonde-haired lady, which attracted admiring glances from male students as they passed through the quad, three floors below. |

As with other commissioned works, it is helpful but not essential that you have an idea in your mind and a budget. More important, is that you are prepared to allow me some input at the discussion stage; pooling our ideas will enable us to get the very best from the project. |

The mural is one of the most exciting art forms I undertake. On an office, hotel reception or boardroom wall it can explain at a glance the style, coverage and ethos of your company to staff and customers alike; in a restaurant or public place, it will contribute towards the ambience you are seeking; or it can simply help to make a child’s bedroom a secure, comforting and familiar place to spend many happy hours. |

After an initial discussion I normally produce a thumbnail sketch, in black and white or colour for your approval, before executing the painting on a wall, usually using a mixture of emulsion and acrylic paints. There are virtually no limits to the style or subject available to you – recent murals have included landscapes, a sea-scape, a foal, a couple of trompe l’eoils, poetry on “parchment” and a compilation of all things Indian for a Sheffield restaurant.
